Georgia has been running SEC football for a while now, which means that Kirby Smart is one of the top coaches in the conference, if not the top coach. Does that mean he is respected among the other SEC coaches? Sure. Does it mean they all like him? Well, who really knows, but apparently many of them trust him to be their emergency contact.
At SEC Media Days last week, the SEC coaches were all asked in a fun little social media interview which SEC coach they would have as their emergency contact, and surprisingly, Smart won.
Smart had five coaches say they would name him as their emergency contact, and those coaches included Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables, Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze, Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops, Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman, and the most surprising of all was Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian.

Each coach had their own different reasons for picking Kirby Smart. Venables said it was because Smart is the gold standard. Freeze initially picked Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz, but then said that, because Smart was closer, that would probably be the better choice because he could get there faster. Pittman said he trusted the Georgia head coach, and Sarkisian said he is going with Smart because he feels like he knows everyone.
Apparently, quite a few coaches in the league trust Smart enough to make him their emergency contact. Smart, in a funny way, said he would make Ole Miss head coach his contact because he is on his phone 24/7, and then in the following clip, Kiffin is seen saying that he definitely shouldn't be anyone's choice because he never picks up his phone.
While obviously this is all just for the video, it is a fun way to see the coaches smile and joke around before another heated college football season starts.
