Kirby Smart isn’t worried about Lane Kiffin’s latest questionable tactic

The new social qualm taking over the college football world is NFL players attempting to return to college football. Lane Kiffin is unsurprisingly at the center of this as he and LSU are making moves to bring multiple NFL players to LSU who couldn't make an NFL roster in their rookie year this season.

Kirby Smart has spoken previously about how he has no interest in bringing NFL players back to Georgia, even though a former Bulldog is attempting to come back to school. Smart however spoke again about this situation as a whole and he made it clear that he doesn't agree with the coaches who are bringing these players back.

“I don’t have any qualms about teams that are trying to have acquisitions and get players from the NFL,” Smart said via dawgnation.com. “If they think it’s the right thing for their team — I just don’t think it’s the right thing for ours.”

“There’s a certain line everyone has to make a decision if they want to cross, if they feel comfortable with it,” Smart continued, “and I’m an enthusiast of traditional college football, and it being college football that everyone has to make a decision if they want to cross (over into the NFL) and if they feel comfortable with it.”

Kirby Smart doesn't agree with Lane Kiffin or anyone who attempts to bring NFL players back to college

Last week the SEC, along with every other Power Four conference, announced that they are not allowing former NFL players to play for one of their conference members. That decision however didn't last long as a court already ruled in the player's favor to let them return, and now there isn't much that the conferences can do at this point.

Kirby Smart however doesn't care what a court says. He knows right from wrong and he doesn't think it's fair to allow professionals to come back to school for one more year just because they couldn't make it in the NFL. He has recruited and coached the players on his roster right now and gave them zero indication that he would bring a professional to Georgia and allow them to play. He doesn't think it would be fair to those players who would end up losing playing time, so to avoid this situation as a whole he is refusing to let these players come to Georgia.

These NFL players would likely make Georgia a better team, but that doesn't mean allowing them on the team is the right choice. Smart wants to win another national championship more than anyone else, but he wants to do it the right way. He understands that other coaches like Kiffin can have their own opinions, but he is going to do what he thinks is right.

It will be interesting to see how all of this unfolds, but Georgia can rest easy knowing they made the right decision for the players on their team regardless of how this season goes.
