Watch out, everyone, because Kirby Smart is already ahead of the recruiting game. The Georgia Bulldogs have been on a recruiting tear as of late, with two big official visits now in the past, but who would have thought the next big news would not be about anyone in the Class of 2026 at all?

Georgia has officially landed its first commitment of the Class of 2027 as 3-star wide receiver Gavin Honore has chosen the Bulldogs for his college career. This commitment comes very early for anyone in the Class of 2027, but when you know, you know, apparently. Honore visited with the Bulldogs this past weekend and loved everything Georgia had to offer, and was quick to make his decision over more than a dozen other schools.

Honore chose Georgia over big schools such as Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, Arizona State, Louisville, North Carolina, and Texas. The young wide receiver out of Santa Ana, California, is ranked as the No. 45 receiver in the class as of right now and the No. 35 player in the state. Honore may only be a 3-star athlete right now, but with still two years till he would make the trek to college, he has the ability to improve his rating and ranking.

Georgia landing Gavin Honore says a lot about Kirby Smart's recruiting skills

Of course, for all college football head coaches right now, their focus is on two things: Class of 2026 recruiting and gearing up for a football season that is less than 100 days away. However, the fact that Smart was able to land a player in the Class of 2027 this early shows that Georgia knows what it is doing in the recruiting game.

Honore was interviewed by 247Sports after his visit to Georgia, and detailed why he chose the program and also why he chose it so early in his recruitment.

"I feel like Georgia is the best fit for me because of the culture and how they run their program," Honore said. "I am really blessed that I am committed, I've prayed long and hard about this, and I truly believe this is all in God's plan."

Honore marks Georgia's first commitment of the Class of 2027 and would be able to add even more speed and athleticism to a wide receiver group that is really starting to come together with some top-notch commits in the 2026 class.
