There will always be a few storylines that stand out every recruiting cycle. One of those stories that always excites Georgia fans is when they target a legacy recruit, which is something that came out on May 7 when the Bulldogs offered four-star linebacker Thomas Davis Jr.

This news made headlines among Georgia fans for many reasons. The biggest reason is because Davis's dad was an All American at Georgia, so having his son play at Georgia as well would be welcomed by everyone at Georgia. On top of that however, Davis is a top 200 player in the 2026 recruiting class, so he undoubtedly would be able to make an impact if he came to Georgia.
The only problem for Georgia is that Davis has been committed to Notre Dame since last November, and Davis's reaction to this offer from Georgia is not what anyone wants to see.
Thomas Davis shuts down any chance of flipping to Georgia
Just two days after Georgia offered Davis, he was quoted saying, "I'm locked in with Notre Dame."

Most would assume that being offered by Georgia would be enough for Davis to reconsider his commitment, that however is not the case. Davis is 100 percent locked in with Notre Dame and it appears he isn't even going to give UGA the time of day moving forward.
Obviously things can change and Davis might end up giving Georgia a close look in the future, but as it stands today there is no hope for Georgia in this recruitment. And the fact that Georgia lost to Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff just a few months ago makes this that much worse.
The good news for Georgia is that they always end up with one of the best recruiting classes in the country every recruiting cycle, and this miss likely won't be changing that.
