Kirby Smart is arguably the most successful coach in Georgia football history already. Considering he is still in the middle of his tenth season it is pretty remarkable that this is already the case.
However, there are a few areas where he hasn't been so dominant, but he has a chance to correct two not so great records on Jan. 1 when Georgia takes on Ole Miss in the College Football Playoff.
Kirby Smart has a chance to change the course of history at the Sugar Bowl
Smart's record at Georgia has been about as good as it can get. There is one big negative that has hung over his head as he has really struggled to beat Alabama. He did take a step in the right direction two weeks ago in the SEC Championship game, but there is still a lot of work to do before that record is respectable.
Smart however does not have a winning record against Ole Miss as he is 2-2 against the Rebels during his career. On top of that, he also has a losing record in the Sugar Bowl with a 1-2 mark overall.
It is not like Smart to have a bad record against anyone or in any game (outside of Alabama), but unfortunately that is the case on two different accounts entering this matchup. So the goal for Smart will be to win this game so he can have a winning record against Ole Miss and get to .500 in the Sugar Bowl.
Georgia thankfully is favored in this matchup, but that doesn't mean all that much. Ole Miss presents a huge challenge even without Lane Kiffin on their sideline, so Smart and his team will have to be ready for a battle if they want to improve these records.
