Georgia football has a lot of massive games in front of them on their schedule this season. An early season road trip to Tennessee stands out as do showdowns with Texas and Alabama at home. Even Georgia's annual rivalry matchups with Auburn and Florida are big opponents for UGA this season as well.

But according to Kirby Smart, none of these opponents are the most important to Georgia this season.

"The opponent is us... And the opponent will be us all year."

Georgia, Kirby Smart focusing on themselves this season

Smart and Georgia knows what it takes to win at the highest level. Just a couple years ago they were winning multiple National Championships which included a perfect 15-0 seaosn, so they know what they have to do to get back to that level this season.

And according to Smart, their focus all season long will be on themselves first then their opponents second.

Smart shared this same sentiment throughout his press conference on Monday. On top of this statement, Smart also challenged his team saying that there are still position battles ongoing throughout this week ahead of their season opener against Marshall. Smart also went as far as to hint at these battles continuing throughout the entire season and that no one will be guaranteed to be a starter all season just because they began the season as a starter.

No one can deny that Georgia doesn't have a lot of extremely important opponents this season. The Bulldogs want nothing more than to finally beat Alabama again and to continue their dominance over Texas and their rivals, but each opponent on Georgia's schedule is secondary when compared to how they handle themselves. And if UGA keeps this same focus all season long, the sky is the limit with this team.
