There were many great things that happened on Saturday during Georgia football's big win against Tennessee. The play on the field by the team was electric and Kirby Smart and his staff had many elite recruits visiting campus as well. But there was one other amazing thing that happened during the game this past weekend.
The atmosphere.
Georgia fans created one of the most electric atmospheres that Sanford Stadium has ever seen on Saturday during the Tennessee game. Every Georgia fan was dressed in black and they made things extremely difficult on Tennessee all night.
The Blackout on Saturday however was not an idea that Smart was a big fan of earlier in the week. Georgia fans were begging for the team to wear their black jerseys because they felt this would make the atmosphere that much better. But the sentiment of jerseys impacting the atmosphere created by Georgia fans was something Smart couldn't understand.
Thankfully the jerseys worn by Georgia didn't end up mattering as the atmosphere created by UGA fans was amazing. But this didn't stop Smart from poking fun at his earlier comments after the game.
"The only thing that would have made it better is if we had black jerseys on."
Kirby Smart jokes about jersey choice
Smart acknowledged after the game that this atmosphere was one of the best that he has ever been a part of. But then he went on to jokingly say that it could have been better if they had worn their black jerseys.
It's unlikely that the jerseys Georgia wears would have any impact on how good or bad of an atmosphere Georgia fans create. But still, if that is something the fans want to see then hopefully Georgia will wear their black jerseys by the end of the season.
There are rumors floating around that Georgia may be saving them for their season finale against Georgia Tech in a couple of weeks. This game is another night game for the Bulldogs, so it would make sense to break them out for this rivalry game.
Georgia fans will find out soon enough if they decide to wear these jerseys or not, but regardless of what they wear, hopefully UGA fans are ready to create an elite atmosphere two more times in Georgia's final two home games of the season.
