Georgia football's running back room was a hot mess last season. Normally that means they were not great on the field, but that wasn't the biggest problem with UGA's running backs. Last season Georgia suffered a large amount of injuries, more than any one position would be able to overcome.
Thankfully Nate Frazier was able to step in and excel as a true freshman, but it's safe to say that the running back room will be much better this year if Frazier has some help.
Two of the players that Georgia will turn to this fall are Roderick Robinson and Branson Robinson. Both players did not see the field much last year because of injury, but the hope is that they will be healthy by the time the season begins and stay healthy all season long.
Kirby Smart recently gave an injury update on both players, and it sounds like they are taking steps in the right direction.
"I mean, they're working out kind of separate from us," Smart said via 247sports.com. "Both dealing with significant injuries. So they're not going to be doing much during the spring. So they're working, they're over ther doing things, but they're not with the team. They're not doing 11-on-11 or 7-on-7 or indy or anything."
Robinson's still have a lot of work to do
Both running backs sound like they have a lot of progress to make before they are able to get back on the field at full capacity. And according to Smart, they will not be 100 percent back on the field this spring.
But there is no need to panic because they both still have many months to get healthy and back into playing shape before the regular season begins. So the fact that they are on the field at all right now, even though it is off to the side on their own, is a great sign that they both will be ready when Georgia takes the field for the first time later this fall.
