Georgia football knocked off No. 2 Texas 22-19 in overtime to claim their third SEC Championship under Kirby Smart.
Countless players and coaches deserve credit for this win, but arguably no one deserves more credit than Smart himself. Georgia looked hideous on offense in the first half, and when adversity struck and UGA had to make a quarterback change Smart was ready to rally the troops and lead them to victory when everyone thought it would be impossible. And that is one of many reasons why Georgia has the best coach in all of college football.
As one would imagine, Smart was fired up after this win. So here are just a few of the reactions Smart had immediately after Georgia's win over No. 2 Texas.
Smart on both Carson Beck, Gunner Stockton and UGA's offensive line

“Both of those guys are great competitors, but how bout that offensive line?“
Smart brought up the run from the 5 to end the game out of a goal line set
One of the biggest stories from this game is backup QB Gunner Stockton coming in and playing extremely well in Carson Beck's place. But Smart couldn't help but shoutout the offensive line, who arguably just played their best half of football all season long in the second half.
That is exactly what Georgia needed from them to win this game after Beck got hurt, and this group more than answered the call while Stockton got his feet under him and played extremely well himself.
Smart addresses Georgia fans in the stands

It would have been so easy for Georgia to give up after seeing Beck get injured at the end of the first half. But instead of doing that, they rallied around each other and played their most complete half of football all season.
And what better time to do that in the second half of the SEC Championship game.
Smart discusses upcoming College Football Playoff journey
“That means rest for a team that Greg Sankey and his staff sent on the road... all year long."
Kirby asked what the bye means…

“That means rest for a team that Greg Sankey and his staff sent on the road… ALL. YEAR. LONG!.
With Georgia's win tonight, they guarantee themselves a top four seed in the College Football Playoff which comes with a first round bye. And according to Smart, the best part of that is all the rest that comes with it.
Georgia's quarterfinal matchup in the CFP will either be on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day, so UGA can use all this time off to finally get healthy after playing the most difficult SEC schedule this season.
