Don't you love when college football head coaches get upset at extremely minor things? Typically this is seen when they are coaching their team up on very intricate details that they are struggling to grasp, but sometimes these coaches get very angry over something that truly has no impact on their team.
The latest example of this was when Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin became furious with the SEC schedule makers after they made the upcoming Georgia vs. Ole Miss game a 3:30 pm kick instead of a night game.
Sure night games are a lot more fun than afternoon games, but is it really worth getting publicly upset over? Apparently Kiffin thinks it is.
Fast forward to Tuesday and Georgia football head coach Kirby Smart took a playful jab at Kiffin and the mini tantrum that he threw earlier this week.
"Yeah, I don't see a big difference in 3:30 and 7:30 in terms of recruiting," Smart said via 247Sports.com. "I mean, they can come to the game either way. You can make the case the atmosphere is better at night. I get what he's (Kiffin) saying there, but my concern is with Florida.
Does Lane Kiffin have a point?
Smart's stance on this subject is probably the best opinion that anyone could have. Does a night game actually make a noticeable difference? To a certain extent it does. As Smart mentions maybe it doesn't in recruiting, but the atmosphere of night games is always better than day games, and that was the point that Kiffin was making.
But at the end of the day, it is a strange topic to get this upset about. As Smart mentioned at the end of this quote, he has a lot more things to focus on then what time of day a future game is at.
So that is one thing all Georgia fans can be thankful about. Smart is more focused on the things that actually matter, like winning football games, than he is on minor gameday logistics.
