Kirby Smart's solution to Georgia's biggest "problem" could save college football

Georgia is an extremely young team this season, but Kirby Smart has a plan to get around that.

Over the past three years the teams that have won National Championships were all very old teams. They were led by players in their fourth, fifth and even sixth seasons of college football, and that experience helped carry them to the top of the college football world.

Georgia won't look like those teams this season. In fact, they are the complete opposite as they are the youngest team in the country.

Kirby Smart however has a plan to counteract that as his team is returning the fifth-most returning production in the country from last year's team.

Georgia's youth could be their biggest advantage yet

The makeup of the last three National Championship teams would indicate that Georgia is in trouble because of their youth. Why would anyone expect the youngest team in the country to be able to compete for and win championships?

Under normal circumstances it would make sense to think that way, but Georgia isn't a normal circumstance. They just won the SEC for the second year in a row, and all of that youth is back and ready to win another championship and hopefully make a deeper run in the College Football Playoff too.

Youth is only a bad thing if they are inexperienced. If a majority of Georgia's players were seeing their first season of real playing time this fall then that would be a cause for concern. But their youth already has a championship ring on their fingers, so they will not be afraid of any team this season no matter how old they might be.

So while the rest of the country is afraid of getting too young, Smart is embracing it and is ready for his youth to hopefully lead him to more championships.

A Georgia National Championship could change the college football landscape for the better

Most college football fans aren't in love with the direction the sport is heading. NIL has made the sport feel transactional, and seeing Transfer Portal additions brought in instead of letting high school recruits have a chance has been very disappointing to see.

It's hard to blame schools for doing this though because they just watched a few teams win a national title by relying on the portal. So if that is working for others, why not try and do the same thing?

Smart and Georgia are doing things there way though, and if they win it all this season they could help usher college football back to the good ole days.

If Georgia can win a National Championship then other programs may not shy away from their youth anymore. They may be more willing to build a strong program with their high school recruits instead of feeling the need to recruit over them with transfers.

The Transfer Portal is a good thing overall, but some teams are exploiting it and taking away opportunities for high school recruits. But if Georgia can win a national title then they might just change the course of college football for the better.
