Georgia isn't meant for every recruit in the country. Kirby Smart has made that abundantly clear throughout his tenure at Georgia, but at SEC Media Days last week he took a stance that put the rest of the college football world on notice.
Smart was discussing NIL and how they utilize it in recruiting nowadays, and this brief yet powerful statement makes it obvious what type of player Smart wants at Georgia.
"If you don't want to be coached, and you don't want to be coached hard, don't come to Georgia."

Kirby Smart knows what type of player he wants at Georgia
Smart know that there are certain player that won't thrive at Georgia. The above statement makes it abundantly clear that if a player isn't open to being coached extremely hard they should never come to UGA in the first place. This doesn't mean they are a bad player, but if they can't fit into this culture at Georgia then they should look elsewhere.
Smart continued to discuss his stance on NIL in the recruiting world and shared that they focus on relationships instead of transactions. So this once again will filter out the players that don't fit the mold that Smart is looking for at Georgia.
So far this strategy has worked extremely well at Georgia and has led the Bulldogs to win two SEC Championships and two National Championships during the NIL era. Georgia has also continued to recruit at an extremely high level which includes the current 2026 class where UGA currently possesses the No. 2 class in the country.
So while the rest of the country continues to focus on the amount of money they can spend on their recruiting class, Smart and his staff will continue to dominate the country by doing things Smart's way that so far has worked out very well.
