Georgia once again has one of the top recruiting classes in the country coming to Athens this year. While it is nice to have some elite players joining the program, the fact that they are ranked so high doesn’t guarantee any amount of success.
Kirby Smart knows this better than anyone else, so that is why he publicly challenged this group as the Bulldogs spring practice schedule is quickly approaching.
Kirby is betting on getting freshmen on the field early and often. CKS explains why the 2026 class has to be the most "ready" group yet.

Kirby Smart’s public challenge will need to be met by incoming freshman Bulldogs
Georgia’s 2026 class finished at No. 6 in the country. That may not be as high as they are used to, but it still includes elite players such as five-star offensive tackle Ekene Ogboko, elite tight end Kaiden Prothro and five-star defensive lineman Valdin Stone.
Expectations are sky high for many of Georiga’s incoming recruits, especially the three mentioned above, but there is never a guarantee that they will meet those expectations. That is especially the case during their first season this fall, but Smart sent a clear message to them that he is expecting them to be ready to play and contribute this fall.
Georgia always finds a few true freshmen who are able to contribute every year. That was especially the case this past season as just over half of the roster consisted of first and second year players. As those players get older they will be in an even better position to contribute on the field, but Georgia will still need the next batch of Bulldogs ready to go next year.
If Georgia is going to repeat as SEC Champions and make a deeper run in the playoff they will need more than a few true freshmen playing at a high level. Everyone knows this, and that is why Smart issued this public challenge to this group so they start seriously preparing for the season ahead now.
