Kirby Smart sent a strong message to Alabama and their fans

Georgia football and Alabama will be a battle of the two best programs over the last decade. Both programs have won multiple championships and have dominated the SEC at one point, so this game more than likely will go a long way in deciding who hoists the SEC Championship trophy in Atlanta this season.

While Georgia has enjoyed all of their success, there's no denying that Alabama has experienced more. That fact has been thrown in Georgia's face over the last two weeks in the build up to this game. But Kirby Smart sent a strong message to Alabama and their fans that none of that matters when they take the field Saturday night.

"They (Alabama) can't throw their trophies on the field to win this, and neither can we."

Alabama fans won't like hearing what Kirby Smart has to say

Georgia and Alabama were both on a bye this past week which menat there was extra time for fans of both teams to talk some smack. Georgia had the upper hand throughout this discourse because they won the SEC last year and have the better record so far this season. But Alabama fans had a lot to say as well because they beat Georgia last year and have had a lot more success than UGA overall.

But according to Smart, none of that matters. And it's impossible to argue against that.

None of Alabama's trophies will take the field with them tonight. None of their victories over Georgia over the last decade will hold any weight in this matchup either. The only thing that matters is the players and coaches on both sidelines, and Georgia arguably is in a better position to win after blocking out all the outside noise.

A new chapter of this rivalry will be written tonight, but Smart made it clear that nothing that has happened in the past matters when he takes the field with his team tonight.
