Georgia football is one game away from entering postseason play, so now more than ever it is important for them to get as healthy as possible. The Bulldogs' injury report for the UMass game this past weekend was quite lengthy, but that may have been due to Kirby Smart being a little cautious knowing his team didn't need to be full strength for this game.
On Monday, Smart as asked about all of these injuries, and he provided four very important and positive updates heading into this weekend's game against Georgia Tech.
WRs Dillon Bell and Anthony Evans
The first two players Smart commented on were wide receivers Dillon Bell and Anthony Evans.
Bell hurt his ankle during the win over Tennessee and has not seen on the field since. But this injury was crucial for many reasons because he was called upon to help at running back with all the injuries taking place there.
On the other hand, Evans made his return during the Tennessee game after dealing with a hamstring injury this season, but he was held out against UMass this weekend. This may have been one of those cases of resting someone just to be safe.
However, even though both guys missed the game against UMass, it appears that they will both be ready to go this Friday against Georgia Tech.
"I think both are going to be good to go and be able to help us, but we'll see because I'll know a lot more after today's practice," Smart said via 247sports.com.
RBs Branson Robinson and Roderick Robinson
Georgia needs help at running back. Sure Nate Frazier has been very good while so many of his fellow running backs have been out, but only having one healthy player that you really trust at the position is not ideal. Running backs Branson Robinson and Roderick Robinson have both been out for a very long time, but it sounds like they could both be making a return very soon.
"They're going to do more today than they have," Smart shared. "I guess y'all saw them on Saturday run. They did more yesterday. We're day-by-day with those guys, but there's a possibility so we're excited about them getting back to work."
Before the game against UMass, both players were seen working out on the field. They were both already ruled out for the game, but this is the first time that anyone has seen either player working out in such a public setting. Smart also shared that both have done more today than they have at any point during their recovery, which is an amazing thing to hear.
It's unclear if either will be ready to go against Georgia Tech on Friday or not, but there seems to be a great chance that they could be healthy and ready to go by the time the College Football Playoff begins.
