There are so many things to love about Georgia football quarterback Gunner Stockton. He is as good of a runner as any college football quarterback can realisticallly be, and he has shown a lot of progress as a passer as well. Stockton also rarely makes a big mistake and more often than not is putting his team in a position to succeed.
But there is one other trait that Stockton possess that stats can’t quantify. That trait, as Kirby Smart explained during an interview with Pat McAfee, is that he makes everyone around him better and play harder.

Kirby Smart dishes out major praise for Gunner Stockton
So far this season Stockton has completed 68 percent of his passes for 1,264 yards, six touchdowns and only one interception. He also has run the ball for 220 yards and six more touchdowns as well.
These stats show that Stockton is a very capable quarterback for Georgia, but it’s what he does for the rest of the team that separates him from everyone else. Smart explained in the above post that he makes everyone around him play harder. That is as good of a quality as any player can have because a true leader makes everyone around him better. And according to Smart, that is exactly what Stockton does.
Smart has publicly praised Stockton for a variety of reasons all season, but this might be the best praise he’s received yet. And knowing how important being a good leader is to Stockton, making everyone around him better probably is the most important thing to him.
Stockton’s leadership will be put to the test in Georgia’s matchup with Ole Miss on Saturday. The Rebels are a great team who are more than capable of defeating Georgia, but Georgia should have no issues winning this game if Stockton continues to play at a high level while making everyone around him better.
