There have been a lot of great coaches in the history of Georgia football, but Kirby Smart likely has already done enough to go down as the greatest coach of all time. Some Georgia fans may disagree, but even those who think Smart has work to do to earn that title assume he will earn that crown eventually.

But how much longer does Smart have left in him?

Most Georgia fans probably don't even have Smart's eventually retirement on their radar, but that time will eventually come.

Smart recently had an interview with On3's Chris Low and his retirement plans was a topic that was brought up during the interview.

“I look at Nick and I look at the way he’s wired, and he was wired to where he could do that. He could probably still do it now,” Smart shared via dawgnation.com“I have so many things I want to do, so many things that I want to experience and enjoy that I haven’t gotten an opportunity to because of the grind and the climb. I don’t see it going that long. But health permitting, I’ll be doing something.”

Kirby Smart has a lot of years left, but not as many as some might think

Smart unsurprisingly did not say exactly when he plans to retire, but he did give Georgia fans a little clue. Smart essentially shared that he does not believe he will coach as long as former Alabama head coach Nick Saban did, which actually gives Georgia fans somewhat of an idea of when he could call it quits.

Saban retired from Alabama when he was 72 years old and Smart turns 50 later this year, so this means he likely has less than 20 years left in him. Two decades may seem like a long time, but it is going to fly by.

Thankfully Smart still has plenty of time to win many more championships at Georgia before he calls it quits, and his pursuit of his next championship continues this weekend as the Bulldogs take on Alabama at 7:30 pm EST on Saturday.
