Georgia football is coming off their final bye week, which is an extremely important time for them in their journey to win a championship this season. Not only is it a good time to get healthier, but it's also a perfect opportunity to improve on the things that they have been struggling with or think they need to get better at.

On Monday, Kirby Smart spoke about what his team accomplished during their bye week, and one thing they worked on really excites me.

“I think we got to look at ourselves," Smart shared via Dawgpost.com. "I think we got a lot of work for our younger players. I think we did a lot of targeted drill work, targeted things that we needed to work on specifically, offensively, and defensively, situational football, that we really hadn't got to do in the past couple weeks because it's been so fast.”

Growth of younger players

Smart unsurprisingly didn't share anything specific about what they worked on, other than the fact that they gave the younger guys a lot of reps. This is very critical not just for the team's growth in the future, but for the rest of this season as well.

If Georgia wants to accomplish all of their goals, they are going to need some under-the-radar type players to step up and contribute more than is expected of them. This is the difference between making the College Football Playoffs and actually winning them.

But these players are also the future of the program, so they need as much practice and as many reps as they can get. In-game reps will always be the best, but practice reps are very good as well. Especially when those practice reps are against as good of players that Georgia has on their roster.

Now while Smart likely worked on many other key things this past week with his team, helping build up the younger players is probably the most important thing Georgia could have done this week.
