The start for 2027 recruiting has been strong for Kirby Smart and Georgia, with seven commits on board. However, Smart and his staff are still on the hunt for a signal-caller and one key target they're taking a look at is 4-star prospect Peter Bourque.

Georgia won't win a national title without a big leap from Gunner Stockton

The 6-4, 220-pounder was once committed to Michigan, but he backed off that pledge. Now, though, he's all set to announce his new college decision on May 14 and he's down to Georgia, Penn State and Virginia Tech. Before that decision, the Georgia staff is ready to meet with him before he lets everyone know where he's headed. Will the Dawgs be able to pull this off, or will Penn State or Virginia Tech record a key recruiting win?

Georgia is hoping to work some late magic to reel in 4-star QB Peter Bourque

Brian Dohn has been all over Bourque's recruitment, providing the latest update on how Matt Campbell, James Franklin and Smart are all working to get this over the line. It's pretty much a guess at this point as to where Bourque will end up, as this feels like a pretty even race.

Whoever does end up receiving his commitment is going to bring in quite the signal-caller, as Bourque is known for his incredible right arm. Throughout his recruitment, he has picked up a total of 34 offers. Per the 247Sports Composite Rankings too, he's ranked four stars and the No. 7 QB in the nation.

Should Smart pull this one off, it'd add to an already impressive '27 class, which features 5-star pledges Kemon Spell and Donte Wright. As we mentioned above, though, Smart is still looking for a quarterback of the future and countless fans are hoping Bourque will be the one to grab a seat at the table in Athens.

Will that end up happening? This feels like a bit of a coin flip, but we'll know for sure come May 14. Bourque would be a fantastic addition for the '27 group for Georgia, but Franklin and Campbell are going to do everything they can to make sure that does not happen. The UGA faithful will be hoping it does, as Bourque sure would look good making plays in the SEC, no doubt.
