Georgia football did exactly what they needed to do against Kentucky to get some confidence back as they took down the Wildcats 35-14. And while there are countless things to be extremely excited about, a few key injuries took place throughout the game that are a bit concerning.
Offensive linemen Monroe Freeling and Micah Morris both went down early in the game, and defensive lineman Jordan Hall wasn't too far behind. These injuries are a bit of a mixed bag as Freeling's injury prevented him from returning to the game while Morris and Hall were both able to return and contribute on the field.
Kirby Smart was asked about all three injuries after the game and provided an update on the status of all three players.
1. Offensive lineman Monroe Freeling
"Ankle. Don't know how bad or severe it was. It was an ankle," Smart shared via 247sports.com. "He re-taped, tried to go, tried to put pressure on it, couldn't."
2. Offensive lineman Micah Morris
"Micah's dealing with a hamstring pull from the week before," Smart continued. "He was able to go without — he didn't get many reps in practice, and then his shoulder slipped out, which he's dealing with, and he came back."
3. Defensive lineman Jordan Hall
"Yeah, he's just dinged up," Smart said. "I mean, I don't know specifically what it is. He's had a patella. He's had some knee issues, and he gets dinged up a lot and comes back."
Based on Smart's comments above, it doesn't sound like there are any serious concerns for Morris and Hall. The expectation should be for them both to be 100 percent available next week at Auburn, but time will tell if that's the case.
Freeling on the other hand is a different story. The fact that he couldn't return to the game is concerning as that makes it seem like there's a real possibility he won't be ready to go by next week.
Smart will likely continue to provide updates throughout the week on all three players, but it goes without saying that Georgia needs all three available to have the best chance possible to beat Auburn.
