A bombshell of a story was dropped on Georgia football out of nowhere after defensive coach Will Muschamp was left off the Georgia media guide ahead of SEC Media Days. No official announcement had been made about Muschamp leaving the program, but this made it seem like he had stepped away and moved on from the program.

Now that Kirby Smart and Georgia are taking enter stage at SEC Media Days on Tuesday, it is not surprising to find out that this was one of the first questions Smart was asked. And according to Smart himself, Muschamp is still with the program.

“Will (Muschamp) is still with us," Smart shared via si.com. "He’s still going to help us. I guess Leland left him off the media guide, y'all gonna have to take that up with him."

Will Muschamp reportedly is still with the Georgia football program

Muschamp is a huge asset to the Georgia program. He began his career in Athens in 2021 as a defensive analyst before taking over as co-defensive coordinator for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. From there he returned to his former analyst role this past season in 2024.

While Georgia fans don’t know exactly what Muschamp does on a day to day basis, it’s likely not a coincidence that UGA reached their peak as a program once Muschamp began his time in Athens. During his four years with the program, Georgia has won two SEC titles and two National Championships, and Muschamp surely played a big role in all of that success.

Muschamp never found a lot of success at Florida or South Carolina as a head coach, but having that experience on Georgia’s staff benefits the program more than people realize. And hopefully Muschamp will be able to continue to excel in his role at Georgia for many years to come and help bring more championships to UGA.
