Earlier this week Kirby Smart said that he doesn’t care as much about the two SEC titles Georgia won the last two years. Yes he still is happy they won them, but their lack of success in the College Football Playoff matters more to him.

Fast forward to today and it’s clear that Smart’s team heard his message loud and clear. Defensive back KJ Bolden shared a similar message surrounding the importance of winning a National Championship this year because he doesn’t want to live off the back-to-back titles other Bulldogs won three years ago.

“We want our own natty,” KJ Bolden said via x.com. “That’s how I’m looking at it. We want our own. I’m tired of feeling like we’re leaning back on the two-peat before we got here. Let’s go get our own.”

KJ Bolden wants to win a national title for himself

One of Georgia’s goals once again this season will be to win the SEC. If they do so then that would be three titles in a row which is something that has only happened two other times in SEC history.

But this statement from Bolden along with Smart’s message make it clear they don’t care that much about that. Sure they still want to win the SEC, but their goal is to win a national title.

It’s been three years since Georgia has won a national title. In reality that isn’t that long at all, but for Georgia they want to experience a national title again. And for players like Bolden who haven’t won one yet, this is their chance to create their own legacy.

While it’s probably nice for them to look in the rafters and see the banners won before them, Bolden and everyone else wants one for themseleves. So while they can enjoy all the success they’ve already had, winning a National Championship is the only thing that matters to players like Bolden this year.
