Lane Kiffin is already playing mind games with Georgia, Kirby Smart

Georgia has a massive showdown against Ole Miss looming this weekend. The Rebels are the No. 5 team in the country and are still undefeated this season at 6-0, so this makes Saturday's game the most important matchup left on UGA's schedule.

Ole Miss beat Georgia last season in dominant fashion, but the Bulldogs are looking to bounce back and make up for that loss with a big win of their own this year. But it's not going to be easy because the Rebels have a very talented roster who are more than capable of beating Georgia this weekend.

On top of having a really good team, Ole Miss has a very good head coach in Lane Kiffin as well. Kiffin is known for playing a lot of mind games going into most of their matchups, and that is once again the case this week as his recent comments may be a ploy to get inside Kirby Smart's head leading into their showdown.

“That’s why he’s (Smart) the best coach in college football now,” Kiffin shared via dawgpost.com. “He basically is coach Saban in almost every area. They became the new Alabama”.

This may seem like an innocent comment from Kiffin as he is just showing Smart the respect he deserves. But knowing how cunning Kiffin can be, there likely is more to it than that.

Kiffin didn't just say some nice things about Smart, he went above and beyong praising him for the job he's done at Georgia. This could very well be an effort from Kiffin to try and make Smart feel comfortable and overly confident in himself in hopes it will distract him throughout this week and on Saturday night. And if that was his goal, he made sure to do everything he can to accomplish it.

“He (Smart) finds a way to win a lot of games in a lot of different styles”, Kiffin continued. “His teams overcome a lot of adversity and he does a good job of keeping his team together. That’s why he’s the best coach in college football now.”

Kiffin however didn't only have nice things to say about Smart as he did take a passing shot at him on Tuesday as well. So it's impossible to know what Kiffin's true intentions are, but it is clear that he is doing whatever he can to find an edge by getting in Smart's head.

It's unlikely for any of these tactics to work against Smart though because he wants nothing more than to get revenge after their loss last season. And if Smart gets his way, he will be the one that gets to say whatever he wants about Kiffin and Ole Miss after what would be the biggest win of the season for Georgia up to this point.
