Georgia football is once again on top of the SEC world after defeating Texas 22-19 in the SEC Championship game on Saturday. This marks Georgia's third SEC title under Kirby Smart, and their second in three seasons.

So after all of this dominance in the conference as well as their two recent National Championships, one would assume that other SEC schools and coaches would know where they stand in the heirarchy of SEC football. Potentially the only school that has any room to say anything right now is Alabama, but now that Nick Saban is gone maybe they should be silent too.

But leave it to none other than Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin to make it about himself and Ole Miss directly after Georgia beat Texas on Saturday.

“Hard to beat the Georgia Bulldogs," Kiffin said via dawgpost.com. "They get everyone’s best shot and just win. Congrats to Georgia Football. 57-4 since 2020. 3- losses to Alabama and 1- loss to Ole Miss.”

Enjoy the regular season win Ole Miss

Should we really have expected anything else from Kiffin? The motivation behind this is clear because he has been petitioning for Ole Miss to make the College Football Playoff after their 9-3 season, but Kiffin needs to know where he and the Rebels stand in the SEC.

Did Ole Miss beat Georgia this season? Sure, and they did so quite convincingly. They are even the only team not named Alabama to do so since 2020. So that honestly is a very good accomplishment for Ole Miss.

But we are talking about the regular season. At least Alabama has postseason success they can hang their hats on. Ole Miss on the other hand hasn't even won a conference title since 1963.

So sure, enjoy that regular season win all you want Kiffin. Georgia has much greater goals still in front of them this season, and even though you did knock off UGA this season, it is Georgia that will be forever remembered as the 2024 SEC Champions.
