Five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell is set to come off the board on May 13. The No. 1 recruit in the country has a final four consisting of Georgia, Miami (FL), Oregon and Ohio State, but over the last few days one team emerged as the favorite to land Cantwell.
Georgia football hosted Cantwell this past weekend, and all reports indicated that this visit was a home run for UGA. So much so that multiple recruiting experts predicted Georgia to land Cantwell. However, everyone knows how fast things can change in recruiting, and that’s exactly what happened Monday night.
Late Monday night, reports surfaced that Miami was making a late push to catch Georgia in this recruitment. While it was never expressed publicly, the only way this was possible for Miami was if they increased their NIL deal that was already reported to be north of $2 million.
As time has gone on since this report, no one knew who Cantwell was going to commit to. That continued throughout the morning of May 13, but On3’s Pete Nakos just logged an official prediction for Miami to win the Cantwell sweepstakes.

Jackson Cantwell predicted to land with Miami
This is not the prediction anyone from Georgia wants to see. It doesn’t confirm that Cantwell will be committing to Miami, but a prediction this late in his recruitment make it very likely that he is heading south to the Hurricanes.
If Cantwell does pick Miami, it will be a tough pill for Georgia to swallow. The Bulldogs did everything right in this recruitment from building a quality relationship with Cantwell while also having a competitive NIL offer on the table as well. But when a team like Miami comes in at the last second with a massive NIL offer, there really isn’t anything Georgia can do.
Cantwell will announce his official commitment at 3:45 pm EST, but as it stands right now it is not looking good for Georgia.
