The Georgia Bulldogs have not had a Heisman Trophy winner since Herschel Walker back in 1982.

It may not seem like much, but the narrative is coming together. Could Gunner Stockton win the 2025 Heisman Trophy during his first season as the Georgia starting quarterback? So far this season, he is 3-0 with a signature victory over the Tennessee Volunteers in overtime on the road. His touchdown pass to London Humphreys and then his two-point conversion to Zachariah Branch were sensational!

FanDuel Sportsbook listed out the latest Heisman Trophy odds heading into the Week 4 schedule of games. Keep in mind that Georgia is on its first of two bye weeks this season. While someone's stock could go up after this week, others' could go down. As long as Georgia takes care of business vs. the Alabama Crimson Tide in two weeks, it could be hard to poke a hole in the narrative around Stockton.

These are the latest Heisman Trophy odds heading into Week 4 of the 2025 college football season.

  • Miami Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck: +750
  • Oklahoma Sooners quarterback John Mateer: +950
  • Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Gunner Stockton: +1200
  • Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Jeremiah Smith: +1200
  • Oregon Ducks quarterback Dante Moore: +1300
  • Texas A&M Aggies quarterback Marcel Reed: +1400
  • Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Julian Sayin: +1700
  • Utah Utes quarterback Devon Dampier: +1700
  • Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Joey Aguilar: +1700
  • LSU Tigers quarterback Garrett Nussmeier: +2000
  • Auburn Tigers quarterback Jackson Arnold: +2200
  • Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson: +2200
  • Florida State Seminoles quarterback Tommy Castellanos: +2500
  • Penn State Nittany Lions quarterback Drew Allar: +2500

At this time, only Miami Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck and Oklahoma Sooners quarterback John Mateer have better Heisman odds than Stockton. He comes in third at +1200, tied with Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. Beck has certainly looked the part for presumptive ACC front-runner Miami, while Mateer has the Sooners on the verge of crashing the playoff party.

To be sitting at third leading an elite team, this does feel similar to Stetson Bennett IV's 2022 season.

How Gunner Stockton could become Georgia's third Heisman winner

The Heisman Trophy is every bit the narrative award, but it is also one grossly inflated by stats. The fact that Stockton is an emerging star as a dual-threat quarterback will serve him a ton this season. Bennett could move, but he was far more comfortable operating in and out of the pocket. While Beck is more of a thrower than a runner, Mateer is also a dual-threat. The problem is he turns the ball over...

That might be how Stockton edges out the Oklahoma quarterback, all things equal. To be totally transparent, Oklahoma making the College Football Playoff is far more unlikely than Georgia making it back. That would give Mateer the benefit of the doubt to win the award over Stockton should he lead OU to the playoff. To be quite frank, Oklahoma quarterbacks win Heismans, and then come up short...

Beating out Beck may be a tougher ask. Assuming Miami is as good as what everyone seems to think the Hurricanes are, they might run the table en route to Charlotte in ACC play. The Hurricanes do play a formidable ACC schedule, which gives Beck plenty of opportunities to put some more pelts on the way. Georgia could do the same in SEC play for Stockton, but the Dawgs are such a well-known entity.

If Stockton stays steady while Beck and Mateer falter, Georgia could have its third Heisman winner.
