There is one thing that has dominated the college football landscape for the last few years. Name, Image and Likeness (NIL). While there are many solid NIL programs throughout the country, the consensus is that Georgia football is near the top of the country when it comes to NIL.
However, that doesn't mean that Kirby Smart and his staff aren't elite recruiters when it comes to building real relationships with recruits like the good ole days. So combining that high level of recruiting with strong NIL means that Georgia will continue recruiting at a high level for years to come.
On3's Pete Nakos however released a report on Wednesday with a very interesting quote from one of his sources.
"Georgia got some guys for a steal. Kirby really leaned into some old-school stuff in getting guys to come at a discount."

Kirby Smart reportedly got recruits at a good deal
According to this report from Nakos, Smart and his staff were able to build the No. 2 recruiting class in the country while getting players at a very good deal when it comes to NIL. This means that Georgia was able to use their relationship building and traditional recruiting methods to build this class.
This would be great news for Georgia if this report is true because it not only tells everyone that Smart and his staff are flat out great recruiters, but it also shows that recruits genuinelly just want to play for Georgia. However, Georgia On3 insider Rusty Mansell shared that Georgia in fact did not sign their class at a discount.
I can assure you, Georgia is not poor and they are not signing classes with “discounts.” https://t.co/4EFq3DuQvP

It's hard to know who to believe because both Simmons and Mansell are very reliable sources. But at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter all that much. Georgia signed a top two recruiting class in the country for the third year in a row, and as long as that keeps happening then who cares how Smart gets it done.
