Georgia football is in the middle of an intense quarterback competition this offseason. Most people believe that Gunner Stockton will be the eventual winner of this battle, mainly because he was the backup last season and replaced Carson Beck after he suffered an injury in the SEC Championship game against Texas.

However, there's a reason this is still an active competition this offseason, and that's because Kirby Smart believes Ryan Puglisi has a chance to beat Stockton out for the starting job.

Most fans still might think it is unlikely for Puglisi to win the job over Stockton, claiming Smart is only keeping the competition alive to make Stockton work as hard as possible this offseason. A recent workout clip of Puglisi throwing the ball however is a great reminder of how this is a legit competition this offseason, and one that he can definitely win.

Ryan Puglisi could be Georgia's starting quarterback for the 2025 season

Puglisi is at a disadvantage because he does not have any game action compared to Stockton who has come in during garbage time multiple times and was QB1 for one and a half games at the end of last season. These weren't just any games either, they were the biggest games of the season in the SEC Championship game and College Football Playoff.

Smart also has been quoted this offseason saying Stockton knows the offense a lot better than Puglisi, which is a huge advantage for him in this battle.

Puglisi however turned a lot of heads all last season to the point where Georgia's coaching staff and reporters couldn't stop raving about what they saw from him in practice. So if that version of him continues to come out this offseason, which is seen in the above workout video, then there is a very real chance Puglisi trots out there for the first series week one against Marshall this fall.
