Now that Georgia football has entered the end of January, transfer portal recruiting has finally taken a back seat in college football discussions. The transfer portal will eventually take center stage in the future, but with classes beginning already and spring practices right around the corner, most players will now stay put for the next few months.
However, there is still a little news worth discussing from Georgia's perspective in the transfer portal. And by "little news" we actually mean massive news.
Ohio State DL Hero Kanu
Hero Kanu is a defensive lineman who has spent the last two seasons with the Ohio State Buckeyes. Kanu unfortunately did not play much in his two seasons with the Buckeyes as he recorded 14 total tackles which includes one sack. However, Kanu was a four-star prospect out of high school, so the talent is clearly there.
Many elite programs are after Kanu as he has reportedly already visited Texas and Florida since entering the transfer portal. Georgia however is getting involved at the very end of his recruitment as Pete Nakos with On3 reported that he will be visiting Athens on Tuesday.
Kanu reportedly is looking to commit to his new program by the end of this week, so this is a name to pay very close attention to for all Georgia fans. Sometimes it is a really good sign when Georgia is a recruits final visit as that can indicate who their top school is. That indication has not been made from Kanu or any recruiting insider at this time, but there is a chance that is the case.
So stay tuned as Kanu will be announcing his commitment by the end of the week, and hopefully he selects the Bulldogs because Kirby Smart and Georgia could really use the extra depth on the defensive line.
