Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo has been in the news a lot this offseason. That is a little uncommon for an assistant coach even at a school like Georgia, but for the most part it has been a lot of positive news.
But a few days ago Bobo’s name was tainted, and he unfortunately lost some money along the way as well.
Georgia Offensive Coordinator Mike Bobo and his wife Lainie are enjoying their day at Oaklawn! Bobo says his first horse won big, but the horse named “Bobo” which he bet on, did not fair as well. 🐎 😆

Mike Bobo loses money thanks to a horse named Bobo
Any football coach deserves some time to themselves in the offseason. They devote so much time and effort to coaching their team during the season, so they deserve to unwind in any way possible during the offseason.
One way Bobo decided to spend some quality time with his family was heading to the race track. Bobo reportedly won a good amount of money on the first horse he bet on, but then he noticed something remarkable. There was a horse named Bobo running in the next race.
So of course he bet on that horse because why wouldn't he? Unfortunately the horse lost which hurt the Bobo name and put a dent in Bobo's pockets.
This obviously was just a fun moment that he got to spend with his wife, but this trip would've been even better had Bobo won the race. Unfortunately that did not happen.
Bobo also came up short in the race for the Broyles Award as well. This award goes to the top assistant in all of college football, and Bobo was named a finalist for the award. Unfortunately he fell short of winning the award for the third time of his career, but being named a finalist is still a huge accomplishment.
Bobo and Georgia now look ahead to the season ahead where they are one of the favorites to win a National Championship. Let's just hope his luck is a little better this time.
