The moment everyone is waiting for is finally here. The 2025 NFL Draft is arguably the best offseason event in all of football, especially for Georgia football fans as they routinely are one of the schools with the most draft picks every year.

That projects to be the case again this year, but time will tell just how good the Bulldogs perform at the draft this year. However, there are more than a few Georgia stars who are guaranteed to be drafted this year, so it's just a matter of seeing how how in the draft they will be selected.

And the first Bulldog is officially off the board as star defensive lineman Mykel Williams was selected with the 11th overall pick by the San Francisco 49ers.

Mykel Williams Georgia career in review

Williams came to Georgia in 2022 with about as much hype as possible. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, he was the No. 4 overall player and No. 2 defensive lineman in his class. And he more than lived up to the hype during his three-year career.

Williams' season high in tackles actually came during his freshman season where he totaled an impressive 28 tackles en route to his one National Championship with the Bulldogs. He also tallied 4.5 sacks as a freshman, which is about as good as you can expect from a true freshman.

While Williams' total number of tackles dipped slighlty as a sophomore and junior, his sack totals did not. Williams also recorded 4.5 sacks as a sophomore before having a slight improvement this past season with five sacks.

What does Mykel Williams bring to the San Francisco 49ers?

Williams is someone who will immediately be able to come into the NFL and contribute day one. He may however not be in line to be a dominant starter upon his arrival, but that is the expectation heading into this second season in the league.

The reason he may not be as dominant as a rookie is because he is yet to fully fill out his frame, according to some NFL experts. Williams does have elite athleticism and long arms that do make up for that however.

But regardless of how long it takes him to become a star, it is as close to a guarantee that he will grow into that type of player. Some experts have even gone as far as to say that he is the most likely defensive lineman in this draft class to become a star.

So San Francisco fans should be very proud, because they are getting a player that will immediately make their organization a lot better.
