Georgia doesn’t need more motivation to beat Florida. The Gators are one of the biggest games on the schedule every season, so no one needs to be told how important beating them is.

Georgia has dominated this rivalry ever since Kirby Smart became head coach. Florida however is entering a new era with a new head coach and starting quarterback, so they are hoping the tides will begin to shift in their favor.

Aaron Philo, who projects to be their new starting quarterback, unfortunately did Florida no favors because his recent statement about Georgia created an even larger target on their backs.

Aaron Philo makes a critical mistake that will cost Florida against Georgia

Philo will likely be named Florida’s starting QB by the time fall rolls around. He is a transfer from Georgia Tech where he spent his first two years in college as a backup, so he already knows what it’s like to lose to Georgia. He however is doing everything he can to ensure that UGA gives him their full attention ahead of their matchup later this season.

Philo’s girlfriend apparently is a student at Georgia. One would assume that would’ve made him a secondary fan of Georgia, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, it sounds like he hates Georgia potentially more than any other school in the country.

That will naturally happen when an athlete transfers from one Georgia rival to another, but to publicly announce that is a bold strategy. Georgia will never overlook Florida, but he just gave them even more motivation when their game gets here in the fall.

Philo is already 0-2 against Georgia in his career, but he is yet to face UGA as a starter. He however will get his first true crack at Georgia later this year which hopefully will turn into a long afternoon for him and the Gators.
