Georgia football's first official injury report for their upcoming showdown with No. 5 Ole Miss was released Wednesday night. The Bulldogs have had a few names featured on this report for a few weeks now, so it was not surprising to see four players ruled out for Saturday's matchup.

But starting safety Kyron Jones was a new addition to Georgia's injury report, and he unfortunately has already been ruled out for Saturday's contest against Ole Miss.

Jones so far this season ranks fourth on Georgia's defense in tackles with 24. On top of that he also has one fumble recovery as well. Jones has appeared in all six games for Georgia this season while making a few starts as well, so this news a significant hit to Georgia's secondary that has already been struggling at times this season.

Dawgs Central insider Graham Coffey shared the following update from Georgia on Jones' injury.

“Georgia redshirt sophomore safety Kyron Jones has been diagnosed with a foot injury that will keep him out indefinitely. Under the guidance of UGA’s medical staff, he will consult with some of the nation’s leading specialists to determine the best course of treatment.”

JaCorey Thomas is the most likely Bulldog who will see an increase at snaps moving forward because of this injury. Zion Branch and Adrian Maddox are two more option who could slide to safety for Georgia moving forward as well.

Unfortunately no update was given on a specific timeline for when Jones could return. The only detail that was shared is that he is out "indefinitely" which could mean anything. But at this point the expectation is for Jones to be out for a significant amount of time and it's unclear if he will even be back at any point this season.
