The pads are on in Athens as Georgia is nearing the halfway point of spring practice. While this is arguably the most exciting time of the offseason it does with a lot of concerns when injuries start to creep up.
Injuries are part of football, but they can significantly impact how good or bad of a season Georgia will have. So when a starter or big contributor suffers an injury of any kind it is usually a reason for fans to panic.
Unfortunately the worst person imaginable is dealing with an injury this spring as Kirby Smart detailed the injury Gunner Stockton is currently dealing with.
“He’s great. He’s practicing,” Smart said via dawgnation.com. “He had a little off-season injury in our workouts. He’s fine now. He was limited a little bit first couple of days but out there competing, doing a good job, focusing on the other things he needed to improve on.”
Gunner Stockton’s new injury causes panic in Georgia’s fanbase
Stockton has a chance to do something special this season. He has the opportunity to bring another National Championship to Georgia and cement himself as a top NFL Draft prospect next summer. Neither of those things however can happen if he is injured.
Even the smallest injury (which this appears to be) is a big concern. Georgia won’t be able to win a title without Stockton playing at his best. In fact, he needs to be a lot better than last year if they are going to win a championship. This injury however could prevent him from reaching his peak if it continues to linger into the fall.
Stockton is one of the toughest players to ever play at Georgia, so a small injury like this won’t hold him back. But this is something for fans to monitor going forward because if he is unable to get healthy then this season could be a disaster.
