It wasn't that long ago when Carson Beck was viewed as a future No. 1 over NFL Draft pick. After his first year as Georgia's starter in 2023 that was the evaluation he was getting, but he ultimately decided to return to Athens for another season before returning once again to play one final season at Miami last year.

Ever since deciding to come back to Georgia in 2024 his draft stock has tanked. It is really hard to live up to expectations after being labeled as a future No. 1 overall pick, but Beck chose to return to college instead of heading to the NFL and that could be a decision he ends up regretting in the long run.

Carson Beck's NFL future is in jeopardy

Players are more likely to return to college now that college sports are in the NIL era. A decade ago Beck probably would've turned pro after the 2023 season, but he could make really good money in college so that is why he came back in 2024. That is also why he withdrew his name from the 2025 NFL Draft to head to Miami as well.

Two years removed from those No. 1 overall pick evaluations Beck is nowhere near the top of NFL Draft boards. He will still be drafted this year, but he is projected to be a day two pick most likely at the end of the second round or beginning of the third round.

He absolutely could still have a great NFL career even if he gets picked this low, but he will not get the same perks that he would've gotten had he been a No. 1 overall pick. The first pick of the draft not only gets a massive contract, but they also are pretty much guaranteed a starting spot. Beck will not be guaranteed anything now and will have to go out and earn every second of playing time.

It will be interesting to see how his career plays out. At this point he probably doesn't regret returning to Georgia or heading to Miami, but if his NFL career never takes off this is a decision he could eventually learn to regret.
