One of the greatest college football running backs this century is former Alabama superstar Derrick Henry. Henry was the winner of the 2015 Heisman Trophy after a dominant Alabama career, and his dominance to this day still hasn't slowed down in the NFL.
Some Georgia fans may not remember this fact about Henry, but he was once committed to Georgia. July 15, 2011 is when Henry made his commitment to Georgia official, which was a massive win for UGA at the time because he was a five-star athlete and the No. 12 overall player in the country.
Over a year later though Henry decided to decommit from Georgia and commit to Alabama instead. This loss ended up being as big of a recruiting loss as Georgia has ever had knowing how dominant Henry ended up being in college at Alabama.
Nick Saban seems to have a different memory about Derrick Henry's recruitment
Coming out of high school, Henry was labeled as an athlete on 247Sports recruiting site because he could play multiple positions. Obviously he ended up playing running back, but he had the ability to play elsewhere as well.
According to Nick Saban, the fact that he ended up playing running back at Alabama is the reason he chose the Crimson Tide in the first place because Saban recently said they were the only school who said he could play running back in college.
"The amazing thing is nobody except us said Derrick Henry could play running back... I told him we're recruiting you as a RB and you can do whatever you wanna do."

This is a lie. It is a known fact that Henry committed to Georgia to play running back for the Bulldogs, and that was something Rivals' Radi Nabulsi immediately shared when he called Saban out on social media.
That is completely false.

He was committed to Georgia as a running back.
Why did he really flip, Nick? https://t.co/xhd385jBzj
At the end of the day it doesn't really matter why Henry chose Alabama over Georgia, but it is strange for Saban to lie on national television about this. Maybe Saban didn't know he was committed to Georgia as a running back, or maybe something else is going on here like Nabulsi is hinting at.
Regardless, Henry went to Alabama and turned into one of the greatest college football running backs of all time, and Georgia fans just have to live with the reality that they were so close to witnessing his greatness in Athens instead.
