The No. 1 corner in the 2026 recruiting class, Jorden Edmonds, has had quite the interesting recruitment so far. Last month he announced that he was going to commit with Georgia being one of his finalists, but that commitment ended up being delayed.
The reason for the delay was never 100 percent certain, but Edmonds recently spoke with Jeff Sentell of Dawg Nation to provide an update on his recruitment, why he delayed his commitment, and who he plans on visiting later this month.
“At first, the school was shut down because of construction,” Edmonds shared via dawgnation.com. “Then a couple more offers came in, and my Mom and I just wanted to reevaluate everything and look over everything and make sure we were making the 100 percent right decision.”
“It was a little bit of encouragement, but the schools I really talk to I kind of still had the same relationships with them regardless of where I was going,” Edmonds continued. “It was a little bit of encouragement, but it wasn’t a lot of just ‘Hold off.’”
What does this mean for Georgia?
This delay appeared to be very good news for Georgia. Most recruiting experts believed that Alabama was the team to beat when Edmonds was going to commit last month, and 247Sports backs that up as the Tide are the only team with a crystal ball prediction in their favor.
However, nothing Edmonds shared makes it seem like he is wavering in any way from Alabama being his top choice. Edmonds did share they he wants to reevaluate other schools that have offered him, but that alone doesn't instill any confidence that he will change his mind.
Thankfully Sentell shared that Georgia will host Edmonds on a visit this month, so hopefully that goes well because he would be a huge addition to the program.
