Now that the early signing period for the 2025 class has passed, it is time for Kirby Smart and Georgia football to turn their attention to the 2026 class. The Bulldogs will also focus a lot of their attention on recruiting the transfer portal as well, but now is the time that Georgia's staff needs to hit the ground running with some of their top prospects in the 2026 class.

And one of those players is RJ Sermons, who is one of the top players in the country. According to On3, Sermons is the No. 1 corner in the country. He also is the No. 11 overall player in his class and the No. 3 player from his home state of California.

Based on those rankings alone, it is no surprise to see Georgia aggressively targeting Sermons, but it appears the interest is mutual.

Georgia makes the top five for RJ Sermons

According to Chad Simmons with On3, Georgia has made the top five for RJ Sermons. Also included in his top five are USC, Oregon, Washington and Alabama.

Based on Sermon's top five, it is clear this is going to be a serious battle to win his recruitment. Being from California, it appears he may be leaning towards staying on the west coast with three west coast schools included in his top five, but Georgia and Alabama are going to try and change that.

No expert predictions have been made in this recruitment yet, but On3 does have USC as the leader right now. They currently give the Trojans a 96.9 percent chance to win this recruitment.

This statistic however is hard to trust this early in the 2026 recruiting cycle. So for now, Georgia is in the running for Sermons and will have every chance to make their move as the offseason progresses.
