Georgia football once again is receiving some great news from one of the top recruits in the country. Like with every recruiting class, Kirby Smart is targeting the best players from across the country regardless of where they are from, and a lot of those recruits seem to be very high on Georgia as well.
The latest top recruit to give UGA some good news is four-star defensive lineman James Johnson. According to On3, Johnson is the No. 14 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 1 defensive lineman in the 2026 class and the No. 3 player from his home state of Florida.
Like many other recruits, Johnson is narrowing down which schools he wants to focus on in his recruitment. And according to Chad Simmons with On3, Georgia is one of the schools he is continuing to pay a lot of attention to on the recruiting trail.
James Johnson is the No. 13 overall prospect in the updated On300 and he has visits set to 7 schools in the coming months, including OVs to Penn State, Syracuse, Miami, Florida and Georgia.

James Johnson upcoming visits
According to the above post from Simmons, Johnson will be taking an official visit to Georgia beginning June 20. He will also take visits to Penn State, Syracuse, Miami (FL) and Florida as well.
As it stands today, On3 has the two Florida schools out in front in this recruitment, but that doesn't mean Georgia doesn't stand a chance. The Bulldogs have a lot to sell Johnson when it comes to success on the defensive line as UGA is regularly one of the best schools when it comes to producing NFL talent at the position. Just look at the Philadelphia Eagles who had Georgia players all over their defensive line that helped lead them to a Super Bowl two weeks ago.
Hopefully Georgia's history of success at defensive line will help sway Johnson to choose Georgia in the end, because right now it appears UGA has some catching up to do.
