Can Georgia earn a commitment from the No. 1 overall player in the country?

Every year Georgia football finds themselves at the top of the lists for many of the top recruits in the country. And that is not changing this year as Kirby Smart and his staff are in full pusuit of the top ranked played in the nation.

That player is five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell, who is drawing attention from just about every program in the country. Cantwell has recently narrowed down who his top schools in his recruitment are, and thankfully Georgia was able to make the cut. But a recent quote shared by Cantwell shows that Georgia (and every other team actively involved in his recruitment) have a long ways to go if they are going to win his services.

"That's the problem, everyone does everything so well."

It is impossible for recruits to get better than Cantwell. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Cantwell is the No. 1 offensive tackle in the country and the top ranked player from his home state of Missouri. He also is the No. 1 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class as well.

Last week Cantwell announced who his top six schools are, and Georgia made the cut along with Missouri, Miami (FL), Ohio State, Michigan and Oregon. However, the social media post that Cantwell shared made it seem like he may have been hinting that UGA was the team to beat. That however is not the case based on this recent quote shared by On3.

Cantwell's recruitment will likely go well into the summer so he has a chance to take an official visit to all or most of these schools in his top six. Hopefully Georgia will be one of those schools that gets an official visit so they can make their best pitch to convince him that Athens is the place to be.
