Every year Georgia is littered with true freshmen who immediately compete for playing time. Not only that, but they also have some freshmen who earn significant playing time and even become starters.
Georgia has had a few of those players this season, and offensive lineman Juan Gaston has been one of the star freshmen this season. Gaston was a five-star recruit out of high school, so it wasn't completely surprising to see him in a starting spot. But he has done far more than just earn a starting spot because he has blossomed into one of Georgia's most reliable linemen.
Unfortunately the SEC doesn't agree because he was not included on the All-SEC Freshmen Team released earlier this week.

Star Georgia freshman snubbed from All-SEC team
Gaston did the unthinkable and was named a starter for Georgia's season opener this year. Starting on the offensive line at a school like Georgia in a player's first game of their career almost never happens, but that just speaks to how great Gaston already is.
While his play on the field more than deserved to be recognized, he likely missed this team because of the injuries he dealt with this year. Gaston missed a few games this year because of injury, and while he was dominant while playing he was unable to play the entire season like most of the other players included on this team.
It wasn't all bad news for Georgia because fellow freshman offensive lineman Dontrell Glover did make the All-SEC Freshmen Team.
There is no doubt that Gaston is going to have a successful career at Georgia. He still has at least two more seasons in Athens, and all signs are pointing towards him becoming a high NFL Draft pick in the future, and there is even a good chance he becomes a first round pick.
