The College Football Playoff is down to eight teams and the Georgia Bulldogs learned that they will have to face Ole Miss in the quarterfinals after the Rebels dominant win over Tulane. Even though the Rebels will be without former head coach Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss showed against Tulane that they are still a very good team that is capable of beating Georgia.
Most of the teams remaining in the playoff have also proven that they are capable of beating Georgia, but the Oregon Ducks are not one of those teams. In fact, they are by far the biggest pretender in the playoff and someone that Georgia shouldn't be worried about at all.
Oregon is the biggest CFP pretender Georgia doesn't need to worry about
Oregon got the gift of a lifetime as they were matched up with James Madison in their first round game. This should have been an easy win for the Ducks and for the most part it was, but they did not play well on defense at all.
Oregon gave up 34 points to James Madison. Sure their offense scored 51 points themselves to still win by a comfrotable margin, but that bad of a defensive showing can't go unnoticed.
If James Madison is scoring 34 points on Oregon just imagine what Georgia could do to them. And Georgia wouldn't allow Oregon to score anywhere near 51 points, so it's hard to imagine a scenario where UGA would lose to the Ducks.
Up next for Oregon is a date with 4-seed Texas Tech. The Red Raiders have to love what they are seeing because similalry to Georgia it's hard to imagine them losing to Oregon. But Oregon is a team that Georgia shouldn't be worried about because even if they met in the National Championship game the Bulldogs should have no trouble beating them.
