Georgia football will always face a difficult schedule every season. That is just how life goes in the SEC. But there are alway a few games each season that appear to be much easier than the others.
One of those games for Georgia this season was their upcoming matchup against Florida. The Gators started the season with a disappointing 1-3 record which included a loss at home to USF. Fast forward a couple weeks though and Florida doesn't appear to be as easy of a game as Georgia fans once thought.
The Georgia football team should feel a little more concerned about an upcoming matchup
Last Saturday Florida played host to the Texas Longhorns. Texas was predicted to win this game, but Florida took control of this game from the opening kickoff. Florida jumped out to an early 7-0 lead after a touchdown on the opening drive. Then their defense immediately got off the field which allowed the Gators to add a field goal to take a 10-0 lead.
Florida cruised to victory from there as they held a double digit lead at the half and never looked back as they won 29-21.
Quarterback DJ Lagway was the star of this game as he completed 21 of 28 passes for 298 yards and two touchdowns. He did threw a costly interception which led to a Texas touchdown, but he more than made up for that mistake throughout the game.
Lagway's struggles were a big reason why Florida got off to their bad start this season, but it appears he has found an answer to start playing better. That unfortunately has come at a bad time for Georgia as they are scheduled to play Florida on Nov. 1.
The Bulldogs have dominated this rivalry over the past decade, but Florida may have found an answer against Texas that could help them take down UGA this season. Regardless, Florida does not look like a guaranteed win like they did a few weeks ago, and that is a scary thing for Georgia to see.
