Georgia football will take on Ole Miss for the second time this season when they battle at the Sugar Bowl in the College Football Playoff. Playing an opponent for the second time in a season can be challenging for a lot of teams, especially for the team that wins the first meeting. The loser of the first game has a lot of extra motivation entering the second matchup because they want to prove that they can makeup for their earlier loss.
Georgia got to experience that two weeks ago when they got their revenge and beat Alabama in the SEC Championship game. Ole Miss will look to do the same on Jan. 1 in New Orleans, but even though they might have this added motivation data shows that it may not matter.
Georgia has a 4-0 record under Kirby Smart when facing a team for the second time in a single season.

Georgia, Kirby Smart dominate rematches
Georgia has a perfect 4-0 record under Kirby Smart when they play a team for the second time in a season. The first example came in 2017 when they knocked off Auburn in the SEC Championship game after being embarrassed by the Tigers earlier in the season. This was the first championship Smart won at Georgia and is still remembered as one of the biggest victories of his career.
Four years later though Smart and Georgia outdid themselves in their second rematch game as they took down Alabama in the National Championship game after losing to them in the SEC Championship game one month prior.
The third and fourth victories also came in the SEC Championship game the last two years as Georgia beat Texas for the second time last season and got revenge against Alabama in the championship game this year.
So whie Ole Miss has the benefit of revenge on their side, it may not matter. Georgia has won these rematch games both as the team that won and lost the first meeting, so if history continues to repeat itself then Georgia should expect to beat Ole Miss again.
