NFL free agency has been very successful so far for former Georgia football stars. A few Bulldogs have already signed new contracts, including quarterback Matthew Stafford who went through a lot of drama with the Los Angeles Rams.

But another Bulldog just signed a contract with a new team, and every Georgia fan likely could guess who the NFL team is who’s choosing to continue stacking former Georgia players.

Philadelphia Eagles are obsessed with Georgia

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, former Georgia linebacker Azeez Ojulari has signed a one-year, $4 million contract with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Ojulari was a standout linebacker for Georgia from 2018-2020 where he exploded onto the scene in his second and third seasons with the Bulldogs. He combined for a whopping 14 sacks in those two seasons, so it was clear that he was ready for the NFL even though he had two more years of eligibility remaining.

Ojulari was drafted by the New York Giants in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and he has gone on to spend all four years of his NFL career with the Giants. His rookie season was electric as he recorded 49 tackles and eight sacks in 17 games, but Ojulari struggled to stay healthy each of the next three seasons. But even though he failed to play a full season the last three years, he still recorded a solid 14 sacks.

Ojulari now joins an Eagles team who is fresh off a Super Bowl win with a staggering six former Georgia players in their organization. So it’s clear that their strategy of adding former Bulldogs is working, and if Ojulari can stay healthy he will surely be able to add to that success.

There likely will be a few more Bulldogs who sign new contracts this offseason still, and no one will be surprised to see Philadelphia be the team behind it all.
