5 biggest losses for Georgia in the transfer portal
By Josh Yourish
In his two seasons at Georgia Jones Jr. a former five-star recruit, only recorded 16 tackles and two sacks. In 2023 he also forced a fumble, but he was expected to be much more productive by his second year in Athens.
While Jones was underwhelming, he likely still has a lot of untapped potential that he may fulfill at FSU. It wasn’t worth Georgia waiting anymore because he played 237 snaps last season with only five quarterback pressures.
Jones is supposed to be a pass-rusher and his pass-rush win rate was only 4.6% which is unacceptably low to play on the Bulldogs' defense. So, how is this a big loss? Well, it’s more of a disappointment that Jones’s career has come to this point. The departure in the portal symbolizes a failure in development for the Georgia staff.
There are plenty more wins to point to, so it’s of no concern, but at some point, five-star players underperforming should set off alarm bells. We’re just a long way from that.
