With Clemson, South Carolina just two hours to the Northeast and Athens, Georgia only an hour and a half from the heart of Atlanta, Mercedes-Benz Stadium is the perfect spot for Georgia and Clemson to rekindle an old rivalry for the start of the 2024 college football season. With No. 1 Georgia set to play No. 14 Clemson in Week 1, the Aflac Kickoff Game has become the hottest ticket in town.

Still over a week away from a noon ET kickoff on August 31, the Alfac Kickoff Game is already sold out, the 17th sell-out across the 21 games hosted by Gary Stokan and Peach Bowl Inc. The two local fanbases will converge on Atlanta, but the game is of great national relevance, to be televised on ABC and feature the only two active head coaches in college football with multiple national championships on their resume.

Kirby Smart and Dabo Swinney have largely defined the last decade of college football, alongside the now-retired Nick Saban, and Stokan believes that the most highly ranked game of Week 1, featuring legendary coaching figures, will produce a massive crowd.

“It’s the perfect formula to potentially have a record-breaking crowd to kick off the season in Mercedes-Benz Stadium,” he said in a statement released on Thursday.

The Aflac Kickoff Game could produce a bowl-like atmosphere in Week 1 of the college football season, but if you don’t already have your tickets, it could be tough to get in. Tickets are still available on the secondary market, but the cheapest ticket on StubHub is currently listed for 112 dollars and is standing room only.
