The biggest game of Week 1 of the 2024 college football season will take place Saturday at Noon ET at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta between the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs and the No. 14 Clemson Tigers. The Aflac Kickoff Game will be broadcast on ABC and ESPN+, but the ESPN College Gameday crew will be in College Station with No. 7 Notre Dame in town to play No. 20 Texas A&M.

Clemson and Georgia aren’t just two of the most dominant teams of the past decade in college football with Dabo Swinney and Kirby Smart representing two-thirds of the active head coaches with a national title on their resumes, they’re also longtime rivals.

This will be the 66th meeting between the two programs and Georgia leads the all-time head-to-head matchup 43-18-4. The most recent meeting was in 2021, a 10-3 Georgia victory with JT Daniels at quarterback that eventually led to Smart’s first national championship as a head coach.

Since that contest, the two teams have been heading in different directions, with Georgia winning back-to-back national titles and losing only two games since while Clemson has lost nine games. In 2023, Clemson posted a 9-4 record, the first season with fewer than 10 wins since 2010 when the Tigers went 6-7 in Swinney’s second year at the helm.

Who are the announcers for Clemson vs. Georgia?

Play-by-play announcer Sean McDonagh will be joined by former Alabama quarterback Greg McIlroy and sideline reporter Molly McGrath on ABC for the Aflac Kickoff Game between No. 14 Clemson and No. 1 Georgia. Kickoff is at Noon ET on Saturday, August 31.

Georgia fans can be prepared to hear from this crew a lot going forward after ESPN bought the SEC TV rights away from CBS this offseason.
