Georgia football finally has some good news. Ever since the portal opened up after championship Saturday day, all the Dawgs have gotten is bad news of Dawgs leaving for other schools. In the past few days, however, the dawgs have gotten some good news, with Smael Mondon Jr returning for another year, and now Carson Beck has decided to return as well.
Beck could have easily gone to the NFL and been one of the top 5 QBs selected, but with a not-so-great 2025 QB draft class, Beck could be the first overall pick in the 2025 draft.
Beck has been superb this season and is one of the best pro-style quarterbacks in the country. Beck has thrown for 3,748 yards, 22 touchdowns, and six interceptions. Beck also has a QB rating of 85.2, which is 7th best in the country.
Out of all the recruiting and portal moves Kirby Smart has made, this is the best one. Beck is not only the best NFL quarterback prospect since Mathew staff, but he gives Georgia a good shot at winning their third national championship in 4 years.
Regarding timing, Dylan Raiola announced that he was flipping his commitment to Nebraska about 45 minutes after the news of Beck's return.
Who knew Raiola was a poet? If Kirby Smart had known he had the next Chaucer on his hand, that N.I.L. money might have increased. All jokes aside, it worked out for everyone, and the cogs in the Georgia machine will keep running as long as Kirby Smart is the coach.
While Georgia lost a 5-star prospect in the 2024 class, it gained a 5-star QB with playing experience. Beck has waited his turn and is patiently sitting and waiting for his chance. When Beck finally got that chance, he ran with it. Beck sat behind one of the greatest Georgia Bulldogs ever, and now Beck could etch his name in Georgia Football lure.
Should the confetti fall in Atlanta in 2025 and be red and black, we will all think back to this moment. This could be a repeat of 2016 when Nick Chubb,Sony Michel, Lorenzo Carter, and Davin Bellamy decided to return. Hopefully, this time, the Dawgs do not come up short in the final game of the college football year.
Also, I got the news of Beck's decision while standing in line to get my daughter's picture taken with Santa Claus. When Santa asked me what I wanted, I told him to tell Brock Bowers to say another year. Santa told me he was only a gift giver, not a miracle worker. I did my part, even though I will probably come up empty-handed. As for Beck staying one more year; the wise Cousin Eddie once said: "Clark, that's the gift that keeps on giving the whole year."
