Georgia Bulldogs news: 11 Dawgs invited to NFL combine, Carsen Beck has a Lamborghini, more

Georgia's record for most players taken in one NFL Draft is under threat after 18 Michigan players were invited to the combine. Carson Beck has a new ride, and Indiana State falters after being ranked for the first time since Larry Bird.

Of the draft-eligible former Georgia Bulldogs, 11 have been invited to the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis from Thursday, February 29 through Sunday, March 3. The list of Bulldogs who on Tuesday received invitations to the extended job interview include:

  • Daijuan Edwards, RB
  • Kendall Milton, RB
  • Ladd McConkey, WR
  • Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, WR
  • Brock Bowers, TE
  • Amarius Mims, OT
  • Sedrick Van Pran-Granger, IOL
  • Zion Logue, DL
  • Javon Bullard, DB
  • Kamari Lassiter, DB
  • Tykee Smith, DB

Georgia’s 11 representatives headed to Indy are fourth most of any school and tied with Texas. Florida State received 12 invitations, Washington received 13, and Michigan led the way with a record 18 NFL Scouting Combine invitations.

In the 2022 NFL Draft, Georgia set the record for most players drafted from one school, but that record could be shattered by Michigan this year, depending on how well the lower-tier players who were invited to the combine perform throughout the scouting process.

Carson Beck’s new ride

We all know that college sports are changing, but in reality, the biggest difference might be that the star quarterback is now allowed to show off the fancy cars that he gets. It’s unclear if Beck received the Lamborghini Urus Performante as a gift from the dealer, if he bought it outright, or if it’s a lease, but regardless, NIL has made Beck’s college experience in Athens a profitable one.

Beck was eligible to join his 11 teammates who are preparing for the combine and declare for the 2024 NFL draft, but NIL perks like this one certainly played a role in him returning to Georgia for another shot at a national championship.

After a 73-71 victory over Missouri State on Saturday, the Indiana State Sycamores moved to 22-3 on the season and Monday were ranked in the AP Poll at No. 23. It’s the first time that Indiana State has been ranked since 1979 when Larry Bird led the team to a 33-1 season while averaging 28.6 points, 14.9 rebounds, and 5.5 assists. That team’s only loss came to Michigan State and Magic Johnson in the national championship game.

Well, the 2024 Sycamores may not be ranked for long. On Tuesday, Indiana State lost to Illinois State 80-67 as a 17.5-point favorite. Illinois State came into the game at 11-14 and 5-9 in Missouri Valley Conference play.
